Well unless you’ve been hiding under a rock lately, and I wouldn’t blame you, you’ve heard who John McCain’s running mate is for this November’s President Election, Governor of Alaska and self-proclaimed “Hockey Mom” Sarah Palin.

Aside from the fact that she’s damn good looking, its a real tragedy to see what this election is turning into.

First of all I want to say that I really don’t mind John McCain, so this is not an opinion based on association.  But with the deceit, manipulation, and downright disrespect the Republican party has had for US and world citizens over the past 8 years you could put the Easter Bunny in his place and I would still be hoping for a Democrat as President.  Hell, I would even be happy to see the US able to carry out a legal and fair Democratic election this time around, I mean they’re certainly due – fingers crossed.

The one thing I can’t seem to understand in all of this, is the blatant hypocrisy by all of the Republican candidates and pundits once Sarah Palin was announced as the candidate for VP.  And the GOP supporters seem to fall right into line without a moment’s hesitation, like its been Gore that’s been in office starting wars based on lies and misdirection for the past eight years and this new fangle “Republican” party is just what the country needs to save itself…from itself.

While Hillary Clinton ran for the Democratic nomination she was consistently attacked by the media for not being able to take it.  Constantly said to be too weak to be President by the conservative media, and they tore her to shreds at every moment. Now Sarah Palin bursts onto the scene from under some glacier in Alaska with a history of possible corruption and a pregnant 18 year old daughter and the only defense you hear from Fox News and the other lackeys are the summed equivalent of “Stop picking on a girl”.  One news reporter, and I will show this in a clip at the end of this post, said Palin has more foreign policy experience than Barack Obama because….”She does know about international relations because she is up in Alaska, right next door to Russia”

With this genius brain-map in place, that provokes the question of why France doesn’t make tastier pizzas. I mean, what the hell, they BORDER Italy?!?!  This needs further research. But I digress…

The video below makes me shake my head in a sad acceptance of what the US has become. Its a small excerpt from a speech Sarah Palin gave a short while ago (and no the excerpt is not taken out of context, I’ve watched the entire speech). Here Messenger Palin claims the War In Iraq is…a task… from god.  Well, of course it is Sarah, thank you for sharing. Amen.  Heaven forbid that the women who may be the next US Vice-President should use things like reasoning, facts, and logic to explain something as insignificant as a war.  Just go right to the “….from god” answer and that way no one can debate you.  I guess this just goes to prove the point of knowing your target market.

Palin also believes its vital to have creationism taught in schools, and I am assuming the word “taught” is being used very lightly here.  But then again the school system would save millions on all the science teachers they wouldn’t need anymore.  I mean once you can play the “because god made it that way” card, seriously, who needs exams?

Politics in general is a lot like a soap opera, but US Politics is like a latin soap opera at 2am.

Who’s sleeping with who?  Whose teenage daughter is knocked up?  Who is blowing the President? And which GOP Senator is currently approaching young men in a bathroom stall in Minnesota?

But the most outrageous part, are the comments being made to the press from Sarah Palin regarding her daughter, ummm Chastity? no, Abstinence?, nope…right right, Bristol.   So Bristol is 5-6 months prego, eighteen years old and who can blame the democrats for jumping all over this issue, just like Bristol’s boyfriend was jumping on her 5-6 months ago as they skipped the government funded “Abstinence training”.

Regarding the situation Palin is asking the people of the press to respect her daughter’s CHOICE for privacy in their DECISION to raise Bristol’s baby.  I heard this a little while ago and thankfully there was a bit on The Daily Show last night that gave me an outlet to laugh at it. A large handful of Republicans immediately joined arms with a united “Yes, respect the family’s choice at this time, you liberal vulchers”.

I mean what is going on here?!?!  The same political party that is violently PRO-LIFE and has been saying the only choice you should have is the one your government tells you to have (well, your government and god) is NOW saying we should respect the Palin family’s choice in this matter.  Would this be the same choice her government wishes to take out of the hands of every other American.  Ridiculous.

I have read about Sarah Palin, and aside from her religious dilusions and consistent hypocrisy, actually I think that says enough.   Now I don’t care if you believe in god or go to church, but no matter what your record is and what you have accomplished, if how you make policy decisions that effect an entire planet comes from the gospel of anything and not the examination of proven facts, logic, and common good, you shouldn’t be anywhere near a position of influence or power.

I’m not saying Barack Obama is an ideal candidate (my confidence resided with Hillary) but until two or three months ago it seemed little could stop Obama-mania whereas now it appears the Democrats are doing all they can do lose the election.

On one side you have the Republicans rallying behind a Governor whose entire state has about 700,000 people and thinks her country is in the midst of a holy war (meh, I might have to give her that one); and on the other side you have the Dems, a party that is more divided and undecided than a group of meth heads choosing dinner at a 7-11.  These are the citizens that make up the nation we hope will ethically police the rest of the world? If the US citizens at large (and this means most Americans, definitely not all) can’t find a way to work together and wake up from their marketing and propaganda induced comas, then no matter if its a Democrat or a Republican in the Oval Office…it doesn’t look good for the next four years.

No great empire is ever defeated by its enemies.  It crumbles from within.

The video below is only 5min and viewed by a ton of people, its 2 clips from The Daily Show and The Colbert Report.  Sometimes world politics can be such a large choking ball of slime that all you can do to Heimlich the taste from your palate is to have a laugh at the absurdity of it all.

…and from this concerned Canuck to all of you “just trying to live my life” yanks out there, please try to make an informed decision before you vote in November.  Not the decision your parents, friends, teachers or talking heads tell you to make, but the one you’ve made on your own.   Good luck America.
